ii. update 6/9 :: standby update -- we still have over 50 people on the waitlist for the first closed* conference for people adopted from china. standby form :: https://forms.gle/EC4YAUBXCfHRQgic8 we’re doing our best to accommodate the most amount of community members as safely as possible so we’ve updated some things ::
#1 - registration for the conference will close june 1. the waitlist will stay in tact and continue to be the primary source of contacts to be registered if/as people cancel their registrations.
#2 - we are opening a standby form for people available the weekend of the conference and located close by who would like week or day-of notifications if there are any last minute open spots for the conference
#3 - from now til june 20 the waitlist will be referenced when turning over open spots for the conference. after june 20 the standby form will be referenced when turning over open spots for the conference.
and yes, if you are on the waitlist you are encouraged to join the standby form if you will be in the area and free the weekend of june 27-29 2025 – see the table to learn more about the differences between the waitlist and the standby form and dont hesitate to email us with any questions you may have!

iii. update 5/29 :: we did it!! we've surpassed our 2nd goal -- thank you so much to our donors and everyone who shared our virtual fundraiser with their comrades and allies <3 we're moving the goal post one last and final time as a few final/unforeseen conference costs have come up ::
venue mix up requiring an additional rental for 100 chairs plus a staffing fee for saturday night
tests, our free covid test source fell through so we need to buy 200 tests asap
final reimbursements for speakers and facilitators (all volunteers who are offering their skills, knowledge, and time for free)
if we are able to reach this FINAL goal we can seriously begin thinking about next year. it would mean so so much to be able to provide for our community like this again in 2026. the cost to organize a conference is not small but can be covered by donations and shares of all sizes. if you have the capacity please consider helping us cross this finish line!!! check out the official update here :: https://www.gofundme.com/f/chineseadopteeconference

* closed means only for people (18+ yo) adopted from china. no adoptive parents, partners, or the general public. this is important to us because historically people who experience adoption are extremely isolated and raised without fellow adoptee community. this conference will be the first large closed gathering for people adopted from china.
